Since joining the United States Hockey League (USHL) in 1996, the Lincoln Stars have been a cornerstone of local entertainment and community pride. Competing in the nation’s only Tier I junior hockey league, the Stars have claimed two Clark Cup championships in 1997 and 2003, along with four Anderson Cup titles in 2000, 2001, 2003, and 2024. Over the years, the team has developed notable NHL talent including David Backes, Brandon Bollig, Ryan Dzingel, Jared Boll, Jimmy Hayes, and Paul LaDue.
The Stars play at the Ice Box, a 4,300-seat arena located on the former Nebraska State Fairgrounds next to the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. Known for its exciting pre-game light show and unmatched fan support, the Ice Box offers one of the best atmospheres in the USHL. In 2014, The Pipeline Show on TSN 1260 recognized it as one of the top five arena environments in the country.
